POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Manager, Planned Giving, will be responsible for overseeing the 9/11 Memorial & Museum planned giving program, The Trust. This program was established in 2019 with the plan to grow the dedicated donor base, steward existing donors, and implement meaningful recognition opportunities. This position will work closely with teams across the organization, including the Office of the President, Museum Programs, Finance, and Legal, to holistically develop planned giving opportunities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- You will identify, cultivate, and solicit qualified prospects for the planned giving program and keep current donors informed and involved.
- Organize stewardship touch points, including personal relationships with donors and prospects, via visits, phone calls, and email, etc.
- You are responsible for the identification, solicitation, and stewardship of individual prospects with the capacity and interest in establishing an estate gift or other planned giving vehicle to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum
- You will work closely and collaboratively with other members of the Institutional Advancement team and integrate efforts with solicitation around a diverse range of fundraising programs, events, and donors.
- Work with donors (includes current Board Members) on various forms of planned giving including charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, gifts of unusual or complicated assets, and more.
- You will execute a planned giving marketing strategy to generate new leads and gifts, including direct mail, e-mail, and digital marketing.
- Ensure accurate gift acknowledgement, recognition, and other deliverables, including an annual donor event.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIREMENT:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum 5-7+ years of successful planned giving fundraising, preferably at a cultural institution or relevant non-profit organization.
- Working knowledge of estate planning, including wills, trusts, estate and gift laws.
- Proven and demonstrated relationship-building and solicitation skills.
- Ability to persuasively communicate and articulate the mission of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum to internal and external audiences, via pitch presentations and VIP tours.
- Team player who exhibits sound judgment in communication style and overall approach with staff and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong computer skills – proficiency in full Microsoft Office suite application required and experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT
- Participates in the Annual 5K Run/Walk and September 11th Commemoration, as assigned.
- Assists with and support all 9/11 Memorial and Museum special projects and events, as assigned.
